Surfing and water sports

The different beaches of the Southern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica offer excellent surf for all categories. Beginners can surf at Playa Negra, intermediates may choose Cocles Beach and the pros ride the famous Salsa Brava wave just off Puerto Viejo. The best surf is from December to March and in July/August.

Boards and boogie boards can be rented throughout the region.

In Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo scuba diving tours are being offered by Reefrunners (Puerto Viejo) and Aquamor (Manzanillo). The same places also rent sea kayaks.
