Reise Know How
This wonderful and rarely visited reserve lies well off the beaten track. It is one of the least visited protected areas of Costa Rica. The reserve covers an area of aprox. 20000 acres. Together with neighbouring Amistad National Park and several Indian reserves it makes this the largest continuous rainforest of Central America.
The region is characterized by dense rainforests, mountains, rivers and plenty of waterfalls. The area offer excellent bird watching opportunities. With some luck you might even spot a rare tapir, a cat or a peccary.
Open: daily from 8 am – 4 pm
Entrance fee: 6 $
How to get there: by car (4x4 is recommended). From Puerto Viejo you turn left at the gas station in Penshurt and then follow the signs to the reserve.
