Reise Know How
The Cahuita National Park which stretches along the Caribbean coast with white sand beaches covers an area of aprox. 2250 acres. The shoreline is fringed with coconut palms and almond trees which provide shade. Along the trails there are rest areas and BBQ possibilities.
In the park you can regularly encounter sloth, white faced monkeys, howler monkeys and the yellow eyelash viper. The 1200 acre coral reef offer good opportunities for snorkelling and diving. The reef is home to 35 species of coral and 120 species of fish. The beautiful beaches with white sand, the blue ocean and the exuberant rainforest in the back make Cahuita National Park well worth a visit.
Open: daily 8 am – 4 pm.
Entrance fee: in Cahuita: none, a donation is welcome, though; in Puerto Vargas: 6 $.
How to get there: by car or by bus from Limon or Puerto Viejo
